I write Think Uniquely: one long essay a week about having the courage to think for yourself in the age of AI.

Why I write this

A website in no time

I trialled Grok Bot, and it coded me a whole website in no time. That used to take me days of dragging and dropping.

Then it made presentation slides from my sermon manuscript, again in no time. I was excited and scared at the same time.

Then the penny dropped

Website builders, presentation software and editors could all go. Anything software-related, AI can do or soon will.

So the difference won't be the technology. It will be the creativity of the person.

What my dad's camera taught me

My dad ran a video recording company for weddings and functions. The equipment was expensive and few people had it, so he could charge a premium.

Then the smartphone arrived. Anyone with an iPhone can film a wedding now.

The tech stopped being the difference. Creativity and skill took its place.

Thinking uniquely is what we have left. It's what AI can't copy.

It's what it means to be human. Your unique way of thinking is irreplaceable, and we need it to thrive together. Without it, the whole body is missing something.

So go ahead and start to think uniquely.

I know the worry

I've been made redundant three times. I know what it feels like when your work suddenly seems less wanted.

Now a lot of us are quietly afraid of being replaced by AI: our job, and maybe our worth. That worry is real.

I don't think the answer is to panic, or to pretend AI isn't happening. Nobody knows exactly how this will play out, me included.

Trying to outcompete AI at what it's good at is like racing a calculator to see who can solve a maths problem faster.

The answer is to be the one thing AI can't be: uniquely human. Then every essay helps you to:

• Get clear about who you are.
• Use AI to amplify that, not replace it.
• Learn the skills that matter.
• Make something of your own.
• Look at the future with your eyes open.

How I join the dots

My life hasn't been a straight line. Think Uniquely is where the dots meet.

• I've studied engineering, theology and finance.
• I use AI every day.
• I live in Ireland.
• I'm a husband and a dad.

Faith underneath

I'm a Christian, and my faith sits underneath everything I write.

You don't have to share it to get something from the essays. If you do, I hope it gives you somewhere solid to stand while everything else shifts.
